ASI Bahamas continues to make strides to improve herself. On January 23, 2019, a delegation consisting of President Ian Greene, Executive Secretary Shandera Smith and Bro. Stephen Meadows, ASI member, travelled to Tobago to experience their Chapter’s ASI Convention. This Convention was held January 19 – 27, 2019 under the theme, ‘Business Unusual.’ Guest speaker, Pastor Mario Broussard II (one of the hosts of Let’s Prayer), preached transformative and inspirational messages each evening calling for persons to the give their lives to Christ.
On Sabbath, there was rejoicing in Heaven and on earth as nine repentant souls sealed their commitment to God through baptism. The delegation also participated in the nightly services.
The delegation experienced a very special moment during this venture. They were able to meet and fellowship with the oldest man in Tobago, Bro. Harvey Moore who is 106 years old.
The climax for this event took place on Sunday where a brand-new Media Center was dedicated. Elder Diamond Andrews, ASI President, Tobago Mission Chapter explained that this was a great faith venture. Members worked feverishly and intensely especially during the last two weeks before the event giving of their time, using their talents and sharing their treasure to make this a mission possible. The delegation also assisted in the process as they set gear for the dedication. Pastor James Daniel, ASI Secretary, Interamerican Division (IAD) presented the dedicatory charge and Pastor Mario Broussard II presented the Dedicatory Prayer. Local conference officials inclusive of Pastor Toney Mapp, President and Pastor Martin Cunningham, Executive Secretary were present at this event.
The Tobago Chapter is one of the most established and successful ASI Chapters in the IAD so the delegation was set learn as much as possible about their operations. The Chapters exchanged ideas of how to improve the ASI Program in making it more effective and impactful in fulfilling its mission of sharing Christ in the Marketplace. The Caribbean Union of the Southern Caribbean runs a successful Credit Union in their territory and the delegation met with officials at this entity to learn about their history and daily operations in preparation for the launch of a Credit Union owned and operated by ASI Bahamas.
